As the world undeniably gets noisier, more chaotic and loud in general, one’s mental, physical and spiritual wellness is of the utmost importance. Whether that be through calming music, relaxing events such as yoga and/or a strong emphasis on a diet healthier than Tom Brady’s, there’s an infinite amount of ways that one could find quality wellness on multiple levels. A recent thought-provoking and greatly enlightening event at Area 15 summarized all those crucial aspects of personal wellness so perfectly.

“Overall the Cannaluxxe Wellness Expo went well,” described Cloud 9 Studios founder Vanessa Oliver, “from the aesthetics to the various exhibitors, speakers, and entertainment. Having Councilwoman Victoria Seaman walk away with appreciation for what she witnessed was powerful to our mission. It was also beautiful seeing families with children come through and connect with the businesses. Overall we doubled our attendance from our 2023 New York show which just goes to show we are moving in the right direction.”

From all aspects of wellness beyond simply smoking cannabis and listening to your easy-listening music of choice, the Cannaluxxe Wellness Expo featured a diverse group of vendors, speakers and presenters. From a VIP section featuring massage and other spa services and a very talented lineup of passionate speakers discussing everything from physical wellness to worthwhile financial stability and security, to an expo floor featuring advocacy organizations such as the Coalition for Patient Rights to a plentiful amount of intuitive tarot card readers and crystal artists, there were endless amounts of subjects for attendees to learn more about and actively participate in.

“We received a lot of different feedback,” Oliver described, “whether it was praise or suggestions for improvement, the event was well received! From the attendees’ side, it was the uniqueness of the environment. One attendee said ‘I stumbled upon this and I feel like I’m at the right place at the right time. It’s been a difficult year and I had no idea this community or options existed!’ The performance by Lizzy Jeff ‘was a vibe’, Khoree the Poet ‘was so much fun.’ In our academy class attendees painted themselves while the instructor did a full body paint demonstration on the infamous Canna Bell. Another favorite was Brandi Lynette’s Manifest Prosperity class which was reportedly packed with gems to produce healthy financial habits.”

For this event (and please excuse my personal nerdiness showing quite heavily) Oliver served as Captain America for an Avengers-level of a powerful team of equally brilliant and accomplished women in cannabis and event design/planning.

“For our participants, the overall experience working with our team was a highlight.” Oliver complimented. “Sajira with Medicated Barbies, Amber with Pretty Tokers, Laura with Laura Loo Experience Design and Delaney with Devoted Event Production really came with a level of guest services that made the whole day feel like an all star show. No doubt pulling off an event this size with limited resources was not easy, but our team execution was epic!

Participants also appreciated the networking, exposure, and the level of business development resources provided to them just by being a part of the experience. Knowing we are proving a healthy and inspiring ecosystem for small business owners fulfills much of the vision we hoped to achieve.”

Overall, the educational aspect of the sprawling event was front and center at all times throughout the memorable event. From financial education to nutritional education to especially mental wellbeing, a topic of great modern prevalence, nearly every attendee left with at least one or two vital lessons about future wellness.

“Education is important,” Oliver stressed, “how you present education is equally as important. Giving attendees the opportunity to interact and engage with safe resources they didn’t otherwise know were available to them inspires them to stick to their personal wellness goals. It also encourages growth in the industry, helping well deserving businesses to thrive.”

To serve as an afterparty to the event hosted by musician and artist Lizzy Jeff, the Zen and Kush afterparty certainly stressed the physical and sensual wellness aspects of the event. As guests attended in either their most sultry lingerie or most comfortable pajamas, they divulged and comfortably discussed deeply personal aspects of their lives that they may not have otherwise discussed so easily.

“Lizzy Jeff’s Afterparty was innovative, in the sense that it brought a different personality to the Cannaluxxe Experience. It was sexy, it was sensual, and it was deeply personal for the attendees. Interacting together in such an intimate space was grounding and encouraged a space where our vulnerabilities were celebrated. Watching the attendees share their stories and come through the other end feeling confident about the uniqueness of their journey, their bodies and sexual health goals reminded me how sensitive and deeply personal the event was.”
